Things I Love #20 ~ Halloween Special

Happy Halloween! In New Zealand we don't really celebrate Halloween. In fact it seems us adults just use it as an excuse to dress up and drink alcohol (see photographic evidence of this below). I've always been quite amazed at how huge the holiday is over in America though and would love to experience it there one year. Us kiwis are just so much more low key, but it doesn't stop me appreciating all things Halloween! This week I can't promise a link to the original source for all images because some I came across some wicked-cool stuff I couldn't find the link for.

One of my all time favourite movies for Halloween, Hocus Pocus

I love a good scary pumpkin carving

#19~ Bubbles

I actually did this last week on one of my days off work sick. I got progressively worse before I got better and didn't have any strength or patience to photograph + write the post.
I couldn't come up with anything to journal about since my brain wasn't in a state to do much thinking so I just picked a word ... bubbles. I love bubbles and think that everyone, no matter how old, should blow bubbles. [maybe like this; or this.] It's fun and will keep you forever young. However this page took a completely different turn than I thought it would...and I love that it did.

I am in total love with the haphazard application of colours which was reinforced by a few oil pastel rings around the white bubbles. To me it worked perfectly and is one of my favourite pages I've done this year.

Butterfly Found Papers Journal 3
Catherine Nelson has created some new 'worlds' which are amazing!~
Such a simple, but super cool way to create your own stencils!
I got the warm fuzzies reading this post from Alisa about the first year with their daughter Lucy.
It's Blogtober and while I'm not taking part, I am really happy that Courtney from Little Raven Ink is!
I love getting to see Donna's work on Facebook. It is always incredibly inspirational.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

#18~ Record what is going on in daily life

This week I just wanted to record what is going on in my life. Thoughts about what I'm experiencing and changes that are happening. October is speeding past faster than I would like and I wanted to stop and notice right now. I feel like I'm living 2 weeks in the future at the moment. Doing this exercise was good to focus on just today. The right now. Because it is a personal page, I have blurred out the text but I still wanted to share the page.

A Sneak Peak

Today hasn't gone according to plan so my art journal page is done but not yet photographed. It's way too late for me to even consider doing it now so in the meantime enjoy a sneak peak (via instagram). Full post up tomorrow! :)

Things I love #18

This collection of photographs by David Chambon is just incredible! I love the little beetle too!

I love how soft and magical Jeremiah Ketner's paintings are.

Photojojo did a neat tutorial on flattening a disco ball creating a sparking reflector for photographs. Think it will go on my 'to do in summer' list

I discovered Little Lala this week- I am in LOVE with these day of the dead painted plates! + her tumblr is pretty amazing

Have you guys heard of the kids book "I want my hat back" by Jon Klassen? Well he is about to release another book called "This is not my hat". I love this little interview with him over on 100 Scope Notes

These commissioned book covers are so pretty!! Loving the graphic design twist on these classics

#17~ Artist Palette

This weeks page was inspired by Pam Garrison. I loved the idea of having a colour palette as a background. What I didn't expect was the way I filled them in~ guess that's why its good to sometimes not think and just draw.

I think the little fox on the top left, the cat in the centre and the bear in orange on the bottom right are my favourites. It ended up with quite a simple, cute, kid feel to it so I added in the words: "Don't forget the kid inside wanting to play". Sometimes its fun to draw super simple animals and just doodle. I'm really happy with this page- it took an unexpected turn and I love it!!

Exploring the Auckland Winter Gardens [Part 1]

I went to Auckland's Winter Gardens today with my super awesome friend Louise. I packed my Canon 600D & Fujifilm Instax to take some inspirational photos of the flora.
When we got there I took out my Canon camera but guess what? "No card in camera"- so that went back into my bag and grabbed my phone. It would have to do for today. Note to self: Always check the camera before leaving the house!
So as much as I wanted to grab some really vibrant, close up photos I could only use my phone and Fujifilm Instax. I was quite miffed to start with but then I entered the first building and I was overwhelmed by the colours, shapes and scents. It was such a magical place!

Winter gardens are gorgeous My favourite flowers there & I forgot the name haha #wintergardens so pretty

I've got so many more photos to share but I will save them until tomorrow. I hope your Saturday has been equally as fun and inspiring! :)

Things I Love #17

Each Wednesday I do a post on Things I Love. I see it as being a slightly altered version of a gratitude list and I hope it brings a bit of joy into your Wednesday. *I will only create post with images/videos that credit the original source.

I dream of having a house that is perfectly unified in design. It would satisfy the OCD within me haha.

This DIY Driftwood Photo Display by Erlend is gorgeous. A great way to incorporate nature into your home.

Yum. #nofilter #artjournal
This incredibly colourful 'palette' art journal page from Pam Garrison totally brightened my day!

It's been really great to see the progress that Corey Marie has been making with their brand new, soon to open handmade boutique. I just wish I could be there to actually visit!

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if Disney Villians ever actually had their happy endings?

Oh and this made me giggle to no end!
