The secret is revealed - I'm Pregnant!!

Pregnancy Announcement

Yep - I'm up the duff/with child/have a bun in the oven and any other colloquialism I've missed. 13 weeks to be exact. After buying our first house towards the end of last year we decided that it was time to start our family and we couldn't be more excited and happy!

Pregnancy has been a bumpy ride so far, although I'm still convinced I have gotten off lightly compared to some. Morning sickness was bad for a few weeks but I'm back to normal now and have been for about a week. I'm not falling asleep at the drop of a hat, food doesn't taste like cardboard any more (well, some still does- get that spinach away from me!) and I can do more than lie on the couch feeling sorry for myself.

I had the 13 week scan this morning which was so amazing to see- we even saw the baby's brain! I had to get up quite a bit earlier than usual and I don't think the little one was too impressed - as soon as s/he was on the monitor it started to wriggle and open and close its mouth. Maybe s/he  just knew we were watching and decided to put on a performance! Totally amazing to see (and get my head around that it was all going on inside me and I can't feel a thing...yet).

It's also why I'm jetting off to Samoa on Saturday for a week with my parents and sister - one last family trip before I become a mama. A week in the sun, on the beach, snorkelling and relaxing. I can't wait and yes, I am one lucky woman!

The whole pregnancy and parenting thing is a scary journey to embark on but an incredibly exciting one. I am determined to enjoy as much of the pregnancy as I can and not spend it worrying or fretting. I think that these days there is so much information out there on what to avoid/stop doing (I mean really...I heard I'm not supposed to drive a new car now for some reason. Pffft) that it can make for a woman to feel nothing but guilt her entire pregnancy! My motto is - just be sensible! If it's too heavy, don't lift it. Don't clean the ceiling of mould with bleach. Don't eat raw eggs. Don't get dehydrated. It's all common sense stuff really.

So there you have it - in just over 6 months time I will be writing while watching my little one sleep (followed by crying, feeding and a bit more crying but for now just focus on the cute sleeping baby haha).
