Happy Mothers Day + Mocha Cupcakes

Yesterday was Mothers Day so Dan and I did our best to get the house in a presentable state, ready for a mothers day BBQ. Both his parents and mine came over for what turned out to be one incredibly enjoyable afternoon! The rain stayed away and the sun made intermittent appearances- what more could we ask for?

We had pesto pasta salad, green salad, veggie skewers, marinated chicken skewers, Angus beef burgers, sausages & home-made Focaccia bread. It was divine, but we made way too much food so we have leftovers that will cover us for at least a couple of days. Yay to not needing to cook!!

But what is a good BBQ without a great desert? This little tower of cupcakes was the pièce de résistance of the afternoon. Mocha Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. They were so amazing that some had been eaten before I had even taken the photo! 

These cute little guys were the non-coffee option; Devils Foodcake Cupcakes with Orange cream cheese frosting, decorated with a marshmellow mushroom and chocolate pebbles (thanks Louise!!).

Overall I would say that the day was a huge success and our mothers (and fathers + sister) had a great time too.
