Dumb Ways to Die

I have been MIA recently~ do you miss me? I miss keeping my blog updated weekly but it seems I have reached a cross roads for the rest of this year. Option 1) Ignore real life and keep my blog updated or Option 2) enjoy the hectic bustling that is my life at the moment and update when I have time. I have chosen the latter which means that until I finish work for the year (mid December) I won't be posting regularly.

In the meantime check out this super amazing animation called Dumb Ways to Die (it's actually educational~ I promise)

I will be back intermittently with bits and pieces and I promise that I have some super rad stuff to share at the end of the year.

Bouncing TV Animation

Remember this post? Well I am still [very slowly] working on learning more about animation and I have finally finished my second scene which is a bouncing TV. It was much harder to keep the volumes the same but I'm pretty chuffed with the outcome. It's so much fun to be able to see your individual drawings come together and start moving :)

I did animation!!

I don't know if I have mentioned it before but I work at an Animation tertiary school doing administration. I've worked there for over 4 years now and have never tried my hand at animation, despite being surrounded with all the tools to do so. Until last week. I got to work on Friday and my computer had spontaneously decided to just not work. So my friends at work showed me how to do basic animation in Photoshop (which is also how you make gif's). After that, and my computer still not being fixed, I asked my friend Alyssa (over on Odd Enough) if she could teach me how to flip. Once I had that down, I was handed the first week's scene for a first year student- bouncing ball. I spent about three or four hours doing the inbetweens and following the keys. It was so much fun, and a hell of a lot more thought goes into the drawings than I ever thought. Here is what I managed to do...

There are volume issues and some drawings are not quite right but I am so impressed with myself for being able to do this. I'm working on the scene after this (bouncing tv) and will share it once I have linetested it.
